Terms of Service

The agreement between you and us. Short, specific, and written so you can actually read it.

Last updated September 17, 2026. Questions about anything here? Email noon@noonknows.com.

The agreement

By using The Renter's Playbook, you agree to these terms with Noon Knows (Noon Knows LLC). If you don't agree, please don't use the service. You must be at least 18.

Your account

Accounts are passwordless: we email a secure sign-in link to your address. Keep access to that inbox secure — anyone who can read it can sign in as you. One account is for one person; don't share it. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

You can delete your account yourself from My Rental — Account Settings. We may suspend or close an account for fraud, abuse, or misuse of the service.

What our guidance is — and what it isn't

The Renter's Playbook is educational and decision-support. It helps you understand what's normal, what deserves a closer look, and what plays are reasonable.

  • We are not your lawyer and nothing here is legal advice. We don't represent you, and no attorney-client relationship is created.
  • We're not your real-estate agent, financial advisor, or insurance advisor.
  • Answers are generated with AI and can be incomplete or wrong. Check anything important against your lease, your local rules, or a professional.
  • Laws and practices vary by state, city, and building. Use judgment before you act.
  • Decisions are yours. Outcomes with your landlord or management company are not something we can promise.

Your content, and contributions

What you upload stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it so we can provide the features you asked for — nothing more. Only upload things you have the right to share.

If you separately choose to contribute a document, you're allowing us to create an anonymized information copy and use what it teaches to improve guidance for other renters. Your private original stays private and is deleted when you delete it or your account. An accepted anonymized copy isn't withdrawn by account deletion — details are in the Privacy Policy.

The Playbook's own content, tools, and materials belong to Noon Knows. Use them for your own renting. Don't scrape, resell, or republish them.

What you agree not to do

  • Use the service to harass anyone, or to build a case in bad faith.
  • Upload someone else's private documents without the right to do so.
  • Try to bypass account limits, gates, or usage rules, or call our systems directly to avoid them.
  • Scrape, resell, sublicense, or repackage the service or its content.
  • Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.

Free and paid access

Renter education in The Playbook stays broadly available for free, along with a limited number of complimentary tool uses. Personalized analysis, secure storage, automation, and the guided assistants are what membership pays for.

  • Moment — a one-time unlock for a single tool. No renewal.
  • Season — a 90-day membership for the part of the journey you're in. Your first Season is $24.99. It then renews automatically every 3 months at $19.99 until you cancel. A Season added while you have an active Life membership is $19.99. Each Season includes 75 Playbook Points.
  • Life — $39.99 per year, renewing automatically every year until you cancel, and including 300 Playbook Points each membership year. If our price changes later, existing members keep the price they joined at.
  • Playbook Points — see the Playbook Points Terms.

Tool allowances included with a Season or Life are normal-use amounts, not hard walls. If your situation runs longer than usual we'll extend a courtesy use and then point you to the plan that actually fits.

Billing, renewals, and cancellation

Payments are processed by Stripe. Seasons and Life renew automatically as described above until you cancel. You can cancel any time in Membership & Billing: Cancel any time — no notice period, no phone call. Cancelling stops the next renewal and your access runs through the date you already paid for.

Cancelling or letting a Season lapse never deletes your My Rental, documents, history, or account. It only changes what tools you have access to.

Refunds are covered in the Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is part of these terms.

Prices are in U.S. dollars. Tax is calculated at checkout where it applies. We may change prices for new purchases; a change never applies to a period you already paid for.

Auto Re-Up

Auto Re-Up is optional and off by default — it only starts if you turn it on, choose a pack (100 Points for $9.99 or 250 Points for $22.99), and save a card with Stripe. After a completed use of Points leaves your available balance below 50 Points, we charge that card for the pack you chose, plus any applicable tax, calculated the same way as when you buy that pack yourself. It happens at most twice in any rolling 24 hours, and Points are added only after the payment is confirmed. We keep a record of what you agreed to: the pack, price, trigger, wording version, and date.

If a charge fails or your bank asks you to approve it, nothing is charged, Auto Re-Up pauses, and we don't retry. You can change the pack or turn Auto Re-Up off at any time on Membership & Points in My Rental. Removing the saved card — there or in the billing portal — turns it off, and so does deleting your account, which also removes the saved card. Automatic top-ups follow the same refund-request process as any other purchase.

Availability, and changes

We're a small team building actively. Features can change, and the service may be unavailable at times. We don't guarantee uninterrupted access. If we retire something you paid for, we'll make it right.

When we change these terms, we update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make about your housing. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

If a consumer protection in your state applies to you and can't legally be waived, it still applies — nothing in these terms takes it away.
