Ask Noon
The Playbook / Love It or Leave It / Thirdly — Move-Out Prep & Execution

Scheduling a final walkthrough.

The inspection management does after you've moved out and turned in your keys. Not every landlord lets you attend — but if they do, take advantage of it.

Why it matters
  • Transparency: you see what they're noting in real time.
  • Corrections: in rare cases you can fix small issues on the spot.
  • Documentation: you can take photos alongside them for your records.
  • Peace of mind: no surprises when the deposit statement arrives.
How to ask for it

After turning in notice, ask directly, in writing:

"Will I be able to attend the final walkthrough?"

  • If yes: schedule it immediately after move-out, while the apartment is still fresh and empty.
  • If no: ask how you'll receive documentation (photos, itemized list, timeline).
Ask Noon coaches you through the walkthrough
Stay calm. This is business, not personal.
Take notes. Every finding, every proposed charge.
Take photographs. Especially of anything that surprises you.
Ask clarifying questions. "Can you show me what you're seeing?" always beats an argument.
Avoid debating on-site. Note the disagreement. Follow up in writing later.
Follow up professionally in writing after the walkthrough if needed — the record wins.
Bring your own checklist

You've done the pre-inspection, the cleaning, and the final photos. Bring a short list of what you cleaned, what you repaired, and any prior work orders that resolved items. It reframes the walkthrough from a review to a comparison.
